My husband and I wanted to swim with turtles but hadn’t chosen a tour company yet. We were at the Saturday market and seen Papa Turtles booth. After chatting and seeing pictures, we felt a comfortable connection with Papa Turtle and decided to book a day and time. I indicated to him that I am a very scared non-swimmer. He put me at ease by telling me I would be very well taken care of and could ride on the paddle board with my husband but did not have to go in the water. He said if I did choose to go I would be very proud of myself. The day arrived and I was very nervous. I was given snorkeling gear, a wetsuit and life jacket. I enjoyed being pulled out on paddle boards and playing the name game with the lifeguards and other guests on the tour. When we got to the channel, I was too scared to get in the deep water and stayed on the paddle board with Papa Turtle. There was no pressure to get in so I observed from the surface. At the last stop where the small turtles were, Papa Turtle told me it would be the last chance to see turtles if I wanted to. Something inside urged me to go. I was given a floating device and 2 of the lifeguards placed their hands on top of mine and floated me over the edge of the coral. It was amazing ! I saw 4 turtles nestled in the coral, one was sleeping and then surfaced right infront of me! I was so excited! Baby Ray stayed with me the entire time as I watched the beauty below. I felt so safe and taken care of and was so happy I did not miss this incredible opportunity! My husband was so impressed with how safe and taken care of I was. We were pulled back to shore on paddle boards, towards the beautiful mountains, each one of us sharing the highlight of our day. Papa Turtle was right, I was very proud of myself! I will never forget this day and will be forever grateful for the opportunity to experience this moment.
